Pelini hails from the University of Nebraska, where he’s a defensive coordinator under his brother, head coach Bo Pelini.
If Pelini were indeed made the offer, it would be surprising. Not only has he never been a head college coach, his name has never come up in connection with the gig until now.
His twitter wasn’t of much help, according to a reporter from the Omaha World Herald, who tweeted: “Carl Pelini to me via text message: “FAU has not made any decision that I am aware of.””
Pelini’s last stint as a head coach at any level was from 1987 to 2002 as a high school football coach in Ohio.
Pelini would bring a solid defensive background to FAU, which might help an Owls’ defense that has allowed about 35 points per game this season. Nebraska’s defense is currently ranked 36th in the nation.

I agree with Dave. The only reason Carl Pelini has a job is because of nepotism. Who is responsible for making the horrendous decision to bring Pelini here to FAU? If Pelini isn’t working for peanuts then someone in the athletics department should be taken behind the burrow and shot.

Stupid, stupid move. This will set FAU football back several years. Or should I say, keep FAU at the bottom where its at for several more years.

Actually, no surprise at all. This has been talked about for a week in Nebraska:

Thanks for the link. It’s surprising though because supposedly FAU athletics had serious talks with Arkansas offensive coordinator Garrick McGee and Florida State running backs coach Gran Amato before offering the position to Pelini.
