FAU approves its president-elect’s contract

On May 26, the contract for President-elect Mary Jane Saunders was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees (BOT), FAU’s highest-ranking decision-makers.

The 19-page document establishes the $345,000 salary as well as the bonus and perks that Saunders will earn as FAU’s sixth president.

It also states that Saunders — who served previously as the provost of Cleveland State University in Ohio, according to an FAU press release — will officially take over the position on June 7 and that her term will last five years. According to BOT Chair Nancy Blosser, Saunders expects to move from Ohio to Boca one week before taking office.

To learn more about the presidential mansion she’ll move into or the other benefits of being FAU’s next leader, read this week’s cover story, “Checking in.”
