Political Debate and Panel Discussion to be Held on the Jupiter Campus

FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society will hold a political debate on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. and a panel discussion on Monday, Oct. 27 at 11:30 a.m. on the Jupiter campus.

The purpose of the debate is to discuss issues relative to the presidential election such as the war in Iraq, the economy and national security. It will feature MSNBC and CNN political commentator Hilary Rosen, who was also a former staff member for several prominent democrats in Congress, and Sid Dinerstein, the chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party. Palm Beach Post columnist Frank Cerabino will be the moderator.

The panel discussion will focus on how each of the presidential candidates would manage the challenges of issues such as healthcare, the economy, foreign policy, education and social security. It will feature Sen. Bob Graham, a former two-term governor of Florida; Ann Brown, a consumer advocate and political activist appointed by President Clinton; Martin Cohen, the former chief financial officer of The Washington Post; and Ambassador Roger F. Noriega, former assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
