BEST TV SHOW TO MAKE YOU THANKFUL FOR YOUR HEALTH

The season premiere of “Private Practice” delivered its usual overdramatic medical crisis with an HIV-positive teen and a pregnant woman who used a sewing needle to break her own water.

The show does get into medical ethical boundaries when Dr. Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald) gets a woman pregnant with a child who is a donor match for her dying son – try saying that in one breath.

Besides patient/doctor drama, the practice is going broke, and everyone might be out of a job – yes, the doctors are going broke. Although the plot skirts around the logic behind the bankruptcy, apparently it’s because they don’t “bill enough.” Why can’t more doctors have this problem?

The Dr. Addison/Dr. Pete romance is setting itself up to be played out more than the Dr. Grey/ McDreamy drama, after the entire first season revolved around the two of them flirting and kissing but never actually dating. The season premiere made sure that this pattern of behavior continued.

“Private Practice” airs on ABC Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
