I’ve got to admit: I enjoy light gun-shooters. There’s something refreshing about the stress relief quality associated with those games. Sega realizes this, putting out a plethora of light shooters over the years. Their latest is House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for the Nintendo Wii – a bundle of two classic games for a platform well-suited for gore and gunplay.

As the name implies, Sega’s HOTD series is pure survival-horror, and the premise is simple enough. It’s you (or in the case of multiplayer, many) against a boatload of zombies and other undead freaks of nature. They’ll come at you in waves, with weapons, and (obviously) take life points away if you’re not quick on the trigger.

If you’ve seen a zombie movie, you’ll know what to expect – blood free-flowing and glazing every corner of the screen. The squeamish have the option of changing the blood color from scarlet-red to green, though.

The Wii Remote is perfect for the action, but the games themselves are arcade-perfect. And the fine gameplay perks certainly don’t hurt: when you reload the gun, the Wii Remote’s speaker provides a handy audible cue of the clinking clip. HOTD 2 and 3 Return is recommended for stress-relieving fun.
