Volunteer to save Jewish history?The FAU Libraries’ Judaica Sound Archives is in need of volunteers who are able to enter information about LPs, tapes and CDs into a computer database. The Judaica Sound Archives is home to scores of early recordings of Jewish cultural music that must be preserved for future generations. Beat weeds and feel good about it?The Pine Jog Environmental Center at FAU offers land management and restoration opportunities that allow you to learn about Florida’s flora and fauna while you volunteer. Did 9/11 and the Iraq War impact American foreign policy?Well, duh; but the FAU Political Science Department wants to get into further discussion about the issue, and they’ve invited Dr. Dukhong Kim of the University of Illinois in Chicago to deliver a lecture titled, “The Impact of 9/11 and the Invasion of Iraq on Foreign Policy Values” on Feb. 29 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in room 105 of the Social Sciences building on the Boca campus. We couldn’t make this stuff upThe Harbor Branch campus’s 2008 Ocean Science Lecture Series is at it again – this time with a free presentation called “What’s in Your Clam Chowder?” to be presented on March 5 at 4 p.m. in the Johnson Education Center auditorium at the Harbor Branch campus of FAU. There’s no word if the lecturer, John Scarpa, will be informing the audience on the proper pronunciation of the word “chowder” (since New Englanders still insist it’s “chow-duh”), but stay tuned or e-mail [email protected] for questions.
