-The Owls came back from two TDs down to beat the Mean Green 30-20 in front of 20,479 at Fouts Field in Denton. It was the largest crowd ever to watch a Sun Belt game at UNT.
– Rusty Smith hit Cortez Gent with a 74-yard TD pass that put the Owls ahead for good with 8:04 left in the game.
– Smith was 22-45 for 322 yards and a TD.
– Charles Pierre and DiIvory Edgecombe each rushed for a TD.
– Warley Leroy kicked three field goals.
– Tavious Polo had two more interceptions. The redshirt freshman now has six on the season, which leads the nation and ties the team record.
– Cergile Sincere had 15 tackles, including a sack. The total was three shy of the team record.
– The Owls blocked two punts, each led to a score.
– The Owls improve to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the Sun Belt. North Texas is 0-3, 0-1. The Mean Green have never defeated the Owls in four tries.
– Owlsley defeated the Mean Green Eagle in a dance-off of avian proportions.
