Women’s Volleyball Springs Back After a Tough Season

A season saved is the feeling FAU’s women’s volleyball team had when they earned the eighth seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. In order to place eighth, the team won two games in a row and three of their last four matches.

The season started to turn for the better after the Lady Owls swept Middle Tennessee State on Oct. 27, in Boca. The victory ended a seven match losing streak which was caused by injuries and subsequent lineup changes.

According to forward Katie Arvidson, “After the injuries, we have finally started to gel.” The team hit their stride at the right time, playing with confidence and familiarity going into the tournament. Teammate Cassie LaRoca agrees. “We finally have found a lineup that’s starting to work.” Along with most of the team, Arvidson and LaRoca will be returning next season.

The Lady Owls played first seed Middle Tennessee State in the first round and lost the match 3-0. Despite the disappointing end to the season, the Lady Owls have plenty to be optimistic about for next season.
