Cops Corner

Psst,…Did you know someone is watching out for your safety? Well, allow me to tell you who. It’s the Florida Atlantic University Police Department. For your safety and the security of campus property, we have strategically placed video cameras in various locations throughout campus. Where you wonder? Well, for starters and with your safety in mind, we have digital video cameras in the residence halls. In the elevators? Yep. In the lobby and computer laboratories? Absolutely. How about the hallways? Yes we do. Do you attend class in the evening and aren’t comfortable walking through the parking lot to get to your vehicle? Do you want your vehicle protected from the inclement south Florida weather? Has anyone broken into your vehicle before or have you been a victim of a hit and run? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, consider parking in one of the two parking garages. Not only are they equipped with lighting, there is the friendly “Eye in the Sky” looking out for you. All five levels of the parking garages are equipped with multiple digital video cameras. These digital video cameras have proved beneficial time and time again to the Florida Atlantic University community. Well, so far we’ve covered parking garages and residential halls. Where else will I find the “Eye in the Sky?” Unfortunately, for safety reasons, I can’t give exact building locations, but do know there are many buildings and laboratories on the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University outfitted with digital video cameras for your safety. The digital video cameras were put in place in an attempt to prevent criminal activity and to provide a blanket of security to our students and faculty/staff members. With the assistance of these digital video cameras, we, as law enforcement officers can identify any problem areas on campus.

If you or anyone you know, has concerns or suggestions about where the digital video cameras are located or could be placed in the future, please feel free to contact me at the Florida Atlantic University Police Department at (561) 297-3500 or email me at [email protected]. The official opening of “Cops Corner” will begin in fall semester!
