$300 prize for best student pot poster

A Marijuana Awareness Poster Contest seeks to inform students about the negative effects of marijuana use. Winning posters may be used in campus-wide drug awareness campaign. Submissions will be accepted from October 25 at 8 a.m. until October 26 at 8 a.m. in SSB Room 222.

Peer Improv Theatre comes to campus

The nationally recognized “Faces,” a peer improv theatre from Brooklyn, NY is coming to FAU with performances on relationships and violence. They will be performing on Monday, Oct 18, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The performances will be held in the Grand Palm Room in the University Center. Motivational speaker to discuss key life skills

Guest speaker Bob Anastas, founder of SADD, will speak to students regarding responsible attitudes, making good decisions regarding alcohol use, and the things that challenge self-esteem, self-image, maturity, and leadership. The program will be held in the Grand Palm Room on Tuesday, Oct 19, from 7- 8 p.m.

18th Annual Wellness Expo seeks to inform

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the breezeway, FAU will be hosting the Wellness Expo. More than 50 organizations are participating in the event. On-site testing, demonstrations, free health screenings, massages, games, and giveaways will all take place in order to encourage health and well-being.

Free HIV testing offered

The Comprehensive AIDS program is offering free HIV testing on Thursday, Oct 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in SSB Room 222. Results received in two weeks, and can be picked up in the same room from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The test is needle free, and no appointments are necessary.

2004 American Heart Walk next month

The American Heart Walk will be held on the FAU campus on Saturday, November 6. They hope to raise 12,000 dollars and have 300 people to walk or run in the event, but they need more volunteers.
