Students for Israel — Students for Israel is a club that comes together once a week every Wednesday in the Sago Palm Room at 5 pm to talk about what’s been going on in Israel in a fun and engaging way. For more information, go to www.students4israel.org.

Clothing Drive — The Student Nurses Association is holding a Spring Cleaning Drive January 20th – March 5th. Please bring any clean, quality used clothing and accessories to SO206 (College of Nursing office). We will be donating the clothing to local needy organizations. Hiking — Outdoor enthusiasts will have the opportunity to walk the trails of Pine Jog with an experienced naturalist the first Saturday of each month 9 to 11 am. The monthly strolls will include the study of concepts such as food chains, energy flow, water cycles and more. Pre-registration is recommended, please call Jennie at 561-686-6600. Catholic Newman Club — The Catholic Newman Club holds several events weekly. Scripture Sharing with Sister Nancy every Monday 1 to 2 pm in the UCM room. A free lunch is provided. The Rosary by the Lake is held every Monday at 6 pm. Those interested in the Catholic faith, social issues, or just want to hang out may wish to meet Joe at Joe’s Corner every Wednesday 12:30 pm across from the famous coffee man in the breezeway. There is a Newman Fellowship every Wednesday in GCS 116 at 5:30 pm. The FAU Catholic Newman Club Choir holds practice before Mass every Sunday at 4 pm in the UC Majestic Palm Room. Bible Study — Anointed Vision will be having bible study at 7 pm in the Palmetto Palm room, every Thursday night.

ASCE 2004 Southeast Regional Conference — The American Society of Civil Engineers welcomes all engineering students to join them at the 2004 Southeast Regional Conference from March 18-20th, in Tampa, FL. The invitation is open to all Engineering students, who will have the opportunity to interact with Engineering students from 22 other schools from the Southeast and participate in 13 competitions which test engineering knowledge. Exhibit — An exhibition of selected works representing the Ecuadorian master, Oswaldo Guayasamin’s career and focusing on themes of Indigenismo and human rights. All shows are free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Tuesday-Thursday-Friday: 12 pm – 4 pm; Wednesday: 12 pm – 6 pm; Saturday: 1pm – 5 pm. Senior Place — This program provides pertinent information about wellness and healthy living. The program is free and takes place during the months of October to April, on the third Friday of the month, from 12 pm to 4 pm in the Live Oak Pavilion. Lecture — Dr. Tom Lansford is presenting a lecture entitled “NATO and the Future of International Security” from 12:15 pm to 3:45 pm, February 26th. Dr. Landsford serves on the faculty of the University of Southern Mississippi and as a Fellow with the Frank Maria Center for International Politics. Film — Directed by Haile Gerima. Dean William A. Covino of Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is pleased to present Haile Gerima’s in the Performing Arts Building, room 101 at 7 pm, February 26th. The film is part of a series of events commemorating Black history month. The events have been organized by Clevis Headley, newly-appointed Director of Ethnic Studies and Special Assistant to the Dean for Diversity Initiatives. These events, which are free and open to the public, are sponsored by the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters Diversity Initiative and the Peace Studies Program. Ice Hockey — Florida Atlantic University Men’s Ice Hockey has three home games remaining in the season. All three games will be played against Tulane University at the Incredible Ice facility located at 3299 Sportsplex Drive, Coral Springs, Florida. Game times are as follows: Thursday February 26th at 2 pm; Friday February 27th at 2 pm; Saturday February 28th 8:50 pm. All students are free with an owl card. Lecture — Douglas Brattebo will present a lecture entitled “Achieving the Democratic Peace” in the auditorium from 3:45 pm to 5:30 pm, March 4th. Dr. Brattebo is on the faculty of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was awarded the prestigious, campus-wide Apgar Award for excellence in teaching and scholarship. Dr. Frederick Goodwin will present a lecture entitled “The Roles of Genes and Environment on Behavior” in the Biomedical Science building, room 126, at 4 pm, March 4th. College Open House — The Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University invites prospective students and their families to its open house from 1 to 4 pm, February 28th. The event begins with a welcome from the Dean and a panel presentation with current students and faculty. This will be followed by information sessions on financial aid, admissions, academic programs, housing, and student life. Campus tours will be offered and refreshments will be served.
