BROWARD CAMPUSES (SEA TECH, COMMERCIAL, DAVIE)


Counseling services — Psychological counseling services are provided at no charge to the students attending the Broward campuses. The professionally trained staff seeks to assist students with personal concerns and problems. Students receive help dealing with issues such as test anxiety, stress, procrastination, poor assertiveness, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Couple and family counseling is also available at no charge as long as an enrolled FAU student is an active participant in the sessions. Group counseling and psychological testing services are also provided when appropriate. Counseling at the center is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practices and Florida statutes. Appointments (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evening hours also available) may be made in person at the Counseling Center located in Modular 38-I on the Davie campus or by calling 954/236-1216.

Wellness Center — FAU’s Student Wellness Center, located on the Davie campus between the Liberal Arts Building and Library, is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center’s goal is to provide highly specialized exercise programs for all members. Membership is free to all students.

BOCA RATON CAMPUS


Art — A series of charcoal aerial views of concentration camps, as well as poems written by Jerome Rothernberg, will be on display until March 15. This exhibit has been organized by the Morris Museum of Art in New Jersey. All exhibitions and opening night receptions are free and open to the public. Student Exhibit — The Annual Student Juried Exhibition will be presented in the Ritter Art Gallery from March 13 through 29. Theatre The Country Wife, a play presented by The Mainstage Theatre Series, will be playing at the Boca Raton Campus University Center at 8 p.m. Written by William Wycherly, The Country Wife is a hilarious English comedy about men, women and marriage. In the midst of a continual banter of sexual innuendo and double entendre there lies a cynical commentary on honor, class, women, and love. This is exemplary of the love vs. lust debate common to many Restoration plays. Ticket prices are $15 for the public and $10 for FAU employees. FAU students and children under 12 are free. Graduation Celebration — Sponsored by Student Government, this special event, which takes place from 1 to 7 p.m. in the University Center Grand Palm Room, is for seniors who will graduate at the May commencement.
