NRWO Puts the Scene Under A Spell

In an endless sea of local talent it’s hard to find a band that truly stands out. But I did find one–Nothing Rhymes With Orange (NRWO). (Incidentally, nothing does rhyme with orange, purple or silver).

NRWO is a fabulous band that despite their three years in the local scene still has a fresh sound. Their sound is a fusion of Brit-pop and rock.

NRWO is comprised of five members: lead singer Carl Coccaro, guitarist and backup vocalist Rich Coccaro (FAU Junior), drummer Brian Chilluffo, bassist Dave Laber, and keyboardist Jay Giorlando. These Ft. Lauderdale residents offer a unique dynamic mix of progressive sound.

On August 31, at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale, they played with Big Sky. “NRWO shows are always a good time, the music is always so great, and you can come out and just have fun,” said FAU freshman Christina Colon.

After the Culture Room show, Rich Coccaro said, “American mainstream pop is crap, and the American audience should stop listing to System Of A Down and go and buy a Blur record.”

NRWO’s future looks promising. They are currently in the studio working on their fourth album.
