Graduate Student Luau — Located on the MacArthur Breezeway from 3:45 to 7 p.m.

This fun Hawaiian-themed event will be an excellent opportunity for MacArthur Graduate Students to become acquainted with one another, FAU, and their Graduate Council. Contact the MacArthur Graduate Council for more information at 561/799-8585.

BROWARD CAMPUSES (SEA TECH, COMMERCIAL, DAVIE)


Counseling services — Psychological counseling services are provided at no charge to the students attending the Broward campuses. The professionally trained staff seeks to assist students with a wide range of personal concerns and problems. Students receive help dealing with issues such as test anxiety, stress, procrastination, poor assertiveness, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Couples and family counseling are also available at no charge as long as an enrolled FAU student is an active participant in the sessions. Group counseling and psychological testing services are also provided when appropriate. Counseling at the center is held in strict confidence in keeping with accepted professional practice and Florida statues. Appointments (Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, with some evening hours also available) may be made in person at the Counseling Center located in Modular 38-I on the Davie campus or by calling 954/236-1216.

Wellness Center — FAU’s Student Wellness Center, located on the Davie campus between the Liberal Arts Building and Library, is open Monday through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center’s goal is to provide highly specialized exercise programs for all members. Membership is free to all students.

Art Exhibit — We Endured-Portraits of Holocaust Survivors by Slovak photographer Yuri Dojc will be displayed at the BCC Gallery starting at 7 p.m. with a lecture beginning at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments and music will be provided. Art — The University Galleries are developing a new Museum Education program to involve committed and motivated FAU students. This is an excellent opportunity for both FAU students and local public school students to interact with contemporary art. Tai Chi — Open University and Continuing Education at FAU is offering Tai Chi by Leon Pollack, who has been teaching martial arts for over 25 years and is a certified Tai Chi instructor. This class will discuss the centuries-old martial art, the practice of which provides a surprisingly effective medium for improving balance, reducing stress and promoting cardiovascular health. Oriental Approach to Wellness — Open University and Continuing Education at FAU is offering the Time-Honored Oriental Approach to Wellness, which will be taught by Stephan Zuckerman, a licensed acupuncture physician and herbalist. Topics included will be Oriental Constitutional Cooking -An Overview of Health and Nutrition; Pain- Prevention and Treatment; Oriental Aesthetics for Beautiful Skin, Hair, and Nails; Oriental Alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy, Western Infertility Treatment and Weight Control.
