Website provides regional job search

Rhinomite is a new dot com company for jobseekers in South Florida. The site aims to match up employers with qualified workers in the tri county area-Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach.

“If you’ve been to our site you know that it certainly isn’t your average job site,” said co-founder Sylvia Miller. “What other sites do nationally, we do locally.”

Designed with usability in mind, Miller said, the 6-month-old site stresses a user-friendly atmosphere. Its innovative links include two databases, a lifestyle section and a jobseekers guide.

Through Rhinomite’s two databases, CAREERrhino and HOURLYrhino, jobseekers can choose to search for a professional, salaried position or they can seek out a part-time job. On the site users can create and post their resumes.

The RhinoReport link offers a guide where users can view articles pertaining to nabbing a job, managing money, and handling unemployment. They can also sign up to receive a newsletter.

Miller says, “Any and every topic that really affects a jobseeker and that a job seeker could definitely benefit from reading, we are certainly going to be providing.”

Still to come on the website is RhinoLife which will provide details on South Florida lifestyles. Until it’s available, a new community calendar will be posted on the home page providing users with information on local events hosted by not-for-profit organizations.

Since the site is still growing it only has a job base consisting of 208 listings-but, Miller has big plans for the company.

“When someone thinks of jobs, I want them to think of Rhinomite. That’s my goal for South Florida.”

It’s not only her goal for South Florida, Miller hopes to take the concept of Rhinomite to other regions. And Miller says Rhinomite also plans to attend the FAU job fair on October 3, 2002.
