Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to FAU students. Applications are available in the Financial Aid office, located above the cafeteria in Rm. 227, unless otherwise noted. Scholarship information was posted on the bulletin board outside Financial Aid during the week of March 14. For more information, call 561/297-3530. American Association of University Women Scholarship – Criteria: Must be permanent resident of either Broward or Palm Beach County; US citizen; entering third or fourth year; maintain a 3.0 GPA or better. Dr. Daniel B. and Aurel B. Newell Doctoral Fellowship 2002-2003 – Criteria: Full time; degree seeking; complete nine credits in registered doctoral program; 3.7 GPA minimum. Boca Raton Garden Club – Criteria: Major in a subject related to agriculture, botany, conservation, forestry, geology; U.S. citizen; resident of Palm Beach County; scholarly and maintaining high grades.Deadline: April 1, 2002

American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Fellowship – AICPA offers Fellowships for Minority Doctoral Students. Criteria: Accounting scholars showing significant potential to become accounting educators. Scholarships are also available for both undergrad and graduate minority students. Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowship – Criteria: Woman between the ages of 25 and 35; must hold doctorate or have fulfilled all requirements except the dissertation and plan to devote full-time work to research during the Fellowship year. Phi Beta Kappa Society sponsors this fellowship with an annual stipend of $20,000. The award may be used for the study of Greek language, literature, history, or archaeology, or for the study of French language or literature. The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation Academic Postdocs in the Humanities – Criteria: Applicants must have received or expect to receive their Ph.D. in a humanities discipline between December 2000 and June 2002. The two-year fellowship provides time and resources for research, dissertation pre-publication revisions, broadens pedagogical experiences and abilities, and encourages good practices in graduate education by emphasizing pedagogical experience, timely degree achievement, and meticulous scholarship. National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Award – Awards are available to improve the quality of doctoral dissertation research by means of allowing candidates to greater creativity in gathering and analysis of data than would be otherwise possible. Awards are only in certain disciplines, including the social and behavioral sciences and certain biological sciences.
