UP Profiles: For Liberty and Justice for All

Purpose: Club President Christina Cernansky explains her club by reciting a famous quote, “Politics are too important to leave up to the politicians.” In this spirit, the club was created. Their goal is to help promote political awareness among students.

They also deliver unfiltered, unbiased information about political candidates to help students make informed decisions when they vote. Says Cernansky, “We are completely non-partisan and believe we all have a right to know the facts.”

This year the club will provide students with information about candidates for both the Student Government elections as well as the gubernatorial elections.

Activities: For Liberty and Justice for All plans to regularly hold voter registration drives. They hope that enabling students register to vote will help stimulate interest in politics. Meetings will be held biweekly. The club will also be going to Tallahassee March 7-9 to attend a seminar on voter’s rights sponsored by Ivote2.com.

Contact: To learn meeting time and dates, or for more information, e-mail Christina Cernansky at [email protected].

If you would like your club or organization to be profiled in the University Press, send emails to [email protected]. Please include basic information about your club, including activities scheduled for spring 2002.
