University Press Profiles

The University Press has begun a series of profiles to inform students about the variety of clubs and organizations available at FAU.

Club Name: Crones Counsel

Purpose: Ph.D. students in the Comparative Studies Public Intellectuals Program recently formed this club. Their goal is to help empower older women and fight ageism.

Current Activities: The Crones Counsel will be participating in V-Day, the national day designed to stop violence against women. They will join nearly 500 other colleges, including all of the universities in the Florida university-system, in organizing performances of the nationally acclaimed The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler.

The group will put on three performances at the University Theatre on February 14, 15 and 16, 2002. These performances will be directed, produced and performed by students. All students, faculty members and student organizations are encouraged to participate. For more information on V-Day, go to www.vday.org.

Auditions for the Vagina Monologues will be held the week of January 16 at 7 PM in HU 138. Callbacks are scheduled for January 17 at 7 PM in the University Theatre.
