Dear Monica Ruiz,
I have took the time to read your article The Girl Who Cried Wolf…or Rape! I think it was a very much needed topic of discussion in today’s society. Although many people are not open about the issue of rape, discussing it seems to help provide a feeling of security. Your article seemed to sum up the reality of others’ perspective. Those who have not been victims of rape take the situation lightly until they actually become one. The drunk student crying rape should not have brought it to the nurse’s attention if she was not raped. But I think even if her roommate felt that she was not telling the truth, they still should not have ignored the possibility that it could have happened. Rape is too serious to be ignored. If everyone associated rape with personal belief, there would be no guidelines for it. I appreciate your article because it gives others an opportunity to speak up. Whether someone, like myself, agrees or disagrees, it feels better to know we are not the only ones concerned.
