Alcohol of the Week

This semester, I’m taking a wine class (GEO 3314) called World of Wines with three members of the staff. We get to taste two great wines every Tuesday night and yes, we’re also getting three credits for this class. So we decided we’d like to share our new wine knowledge with you. We’ll pick one wine from our class every week, and tell you where to buy it. But since not everyone likes wine, we figured we’d include a beer and a cocktail of the week as well.

Note: If you can’t make it to a restaurant we suggest, all wine and beers can be special-ordered at any ABC Discount Wine and Spirits location.

Wine of the week:Cabernet Sauvignon – B.R. Cohn Silver Label, 2006. Described as a spicy-earthy red wine with 14.1 percent alcohol content. It’s $16.75 per bottle at Total Wines in Boca Raton.

Beer of the week:Young’s Double Chocolate Stout – A dark, sweet-flavored heavy beer found at If you’re 21 and you’re in college – we know you like to drink Sublime Restaurant and Bar in Fort Lauderdale. You can get a pint and a half for $7.

Cocktail of the week:Red Headed Slut – Peach schnapps, Jagermeister and cranberry juice, best served on the rocks or as a shot. You can order it at any bar, but the best ones are $6.75 at Chili’s.
