Treasure Coast goes from Jerry to Gerri

After Jerry Lafferty retired as FAU’s Treasure Coast Vice President, FAU president Frank Brogan found another Gerri to fill Lafferty’s shoes. He found her in Gerri McPherson.

McPherson has more than 30 years of experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. In the past 15 years she has been the principal of three Port St. Lucie area schools.

McPherson also has experience in higher education. She served as a charter member of the Board of Trustees for three years. On the BOT, she chaired the planning and development committee and was a member of the academic and student affairs committee. She also earned a specialist’s degree in administration and supervision degree from FAU’s college of education in 1989.

McPherson beat out more than 50 other applicants in FAU’s two-month national search for the Treasure Coast VP. As Treasure Coast VP, McPherson is responsible for all operations on the campus which includes increasing access to higher education.
