“It looks expensive…It must cost some cheddar to go here,” quipped Tiny Glover, one of two comedians that came to entertain the MacArthur Campus crowd on Tuesday, October 8 in the MAC Auditorium.
Hilariously funny, the show started with Tiny Glover, who, pardon the pun, was not at all tiny. His portion of the show was very interactive; he cracked jokes at the expense of the audience, making everyone laugh even harder.
When I snapped his picture for the UP, he asked if I would be flashing all night. I explained that I was taking pictures for the UP, and he started posing. He wouldn’t come out of the pose until I took the picture. Tiny referred to one student as Meatloaf, another as a ‘bobble head,’ and yet another as Kid Rock.
“The guy [Tiny Glover] called me Kid Rock, but I always thought I was more of an Axel Rose,” said student Micah Holmbeck.
Joking on subjects such as his wife’s Christmas present, his daughter’s tattoo, his weight, and the audience, Tiny Glover delivered an excellent performance to a very enthusiastic audience.
Next at the microphone was “Spanky,” the 2002 Campus Performer of the Year. His act was even funnier than Tiny’s. Did you know that Florida is the only state where the average temperature is equal to the average age?
Filled with sexual, vulgar humor, Spanky’s set was a hit with the Honors College crowd. Growing up Jewish and Irish, he always had the desire to buy wholesale whiskey. One of the funniest segments of his set, was when he spoke about Dick Sweat, who ran for Congress in Rhode Island. (He came from behind, and won by a hair.)
Spanky’s slogan, “Men Are Sluts” can be found on the merchandise he sells after shows and at his website, www.menaresluts.com.
These laughable, laudable performances by these talented comedians were not to be missed. The show was a genuine success, and an excellent break from studying.
