Florida Atlantic redshirt-sophomore guard and 2026 leading scorer Devin Vanterpool is entering the transfer portal. Vanterpool started 24 games for FAU this past season. He also averaged 15.8 points, 2.4 assists, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in 2026, a drastic improvement from averaging 2 points the year prior.
Vanterpool also became the second-ever Owl to win the American Conference’s most improved player award, marking back-to-back awards for FAU after Tre Carroll won it in 2025. He spent three seasons at FAU, redshirting in 2023-2024 and contributing for the Owls during the last two seasons.
Vanterpool announcing his departure officially means the Owls have no players left that were recruited by former Head Coach Dusty May; Vanterpool will have two years of eligibility left. He joins Isaiah Elohim, another Owl starter in the transfer portal.
“I want to take a moment to thank my coaches and FAU for the opportunity to grow both on and off the court,” Vanterpool posted on Instagram earlier today. “I’m truly grateful for the relationships I’ve built and the experiences that have shaped me during my time here. Forever grateful for my time at FAU, and it will always be a part of me.”
