Jacey Bailey announced on her Twitter page earlier today that she has decided to transfer after playing just one year at Florida Atlantic University.

Bailey started 15 games for the Owls this year and averaged 17.8 minutes per game. The guard was ninth on the team in scoring, averaging just 4.3 points per game.

“I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity I was given to attend and play basketball at Florida Atlantic University,” Bailey said in her Twitter post. “I truly believe that my freshman year was an imperative learning experience and will be the foundation for my future goals… I requested the athletic department for my release, and have been granted it.”

Born in Burnaby, Canada, Bailey came to FAU after completing her high school career at Burnaby Mountain Secondary, where she was named District MVP, Provincial All-Star and Regional All-Star. She also had a career-high 13 three pointers and 55 points in a single game.

The Owls are still looking for a head coach after the firing of Kellie Lewis-Jay last week, but it’s unclear whether Bailey’s decision to transfer was related to the change. It is currently unknown where she will continue her collegiate career.
