Sex Scandals Hit Police Department

This past March, longtime Capt. Carl “Chuck” Aurin resigned from the police force amid allegations that he had on-duty sex with a student. According to FAU Police Chief Bill Ferrel, a video was found in a locked cabinet of Aurin having sex with a student. Pornographic images and

e-mails were also found on Aurin’s cell phone and his two office computers. These discoveries were made after Aurin turned in his cell phone, patrol car and keys to his office after resigning from his position as head of criminal investigations on complaints of possible ethics violations.

The FAU police department installed software to monitor for sexually explicit material being accessed on their computers, one of many preventive measures taken, according to Ferrel.
