Local Restaurant Adds a Twist to Their Halloween Parties

FAU students are invited to attend Scotty B’s 5th Annual Halloween Party. Guys dress in drag and drink for free. Yes, this only applies to the men.

“Men finally get something free,” says Scott Bender or “Scotty,” one of the owners of the restaurant/bar. “That’s the point of it.”

The party starts at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. You have to be 21 to drink, but because the bar is also a restaurant that has pool tables, video games and karaoke all ages are welcome. And if you want more than drafts, they are also offering $2.00 shots to party guests.

“It’s a lot of fun, and the guys are really funny,” says Bryanna Rawe, Bender’s stepdaughter and a waitress at the restaurant, “…Everyone gets really drunk, so come ready to party.”

The party will have prizes for best costume, best singer (in drag) and much more. They will also be having a live band, Rich and the Postman, that will play rock and roll music.

Bender compares the party to a vacation, “It’s pretty much like when you go to Key West; you can be somebody else: you’re just there to have fun, and you don’t care about what anyone else thinks.”

So pull out your mother’s old clothes and have your girlfriend do your makeup and you’ll get free drafts, “til the kegs run out,” says Bender.

“You got to see it to believe it,” says Patsy Burns, a waitress at Scotty B’s. “These men look like Alice Cooper with makeup running down their faces,” she says with a laugh, indicating that women will enjoy it as well. æ

Scotty B’s Draft House is located near the Palm Beach Gardens Mall, at 9477 alternate A1A. For more information you can call the restaurant at (561) 863-4466 or go to their web site at www.scottbsdrafthouse.com.
