FAU ranks higher in graduating minorities

Approximately 117,600 bachelor degrees were conferred upon African American students throughout the U.S. at the end of the 2002-2003 academic year. Among those universities, FAU ranked 23rd in the nation according to Black Issues in Higher Education. FAU moved up 12 spots from last year in conferring bachelor degrees upon African American students.

Black Issues is a magazine on education issues for African Americans and other minorities. They ranked FAU in a number of different categories. Among the notables are:

— 16th in the nation for the number of English language and literature/letters degrees conferred to American Indians

— 11th in the nation for the number of education degrees conferred to African Americans

— 43rd in the nation for the number of bachelor degrees conferred to Latinos

— 39th in the nation for the number of mathematics and statistics degrees conferred to African Americans

— 28th in the nation for the number of health professions and related to clinical sciences degrees conferred to Latinos.
