Students and faculty dial “M” for Motorola

FAU students and faculty are currently working on research and service projects to test wireless phones and other devices for Motorola. The group consists of three faculty members and at least 65 graduate and undergraduate students in the department of Computer Science and Engineering. They are learning to deal with wireless problems and issues in an attempt to better the technology. The goal is to make wireless products more efficient while at the same time develop innovations within the industry.

FAU’s relationship with Motorola isn’t just a one-sided partnership. Students benefit as well because their work provides them with research results that lead to doctoral dissertations. In addition, Motorola has given full time positions to five graduating students working on the project.

For more information on FAU’s work with Motorola, contact Dr. Borko Furht at 561/297-3855.
