FAU police reported a gunman was on FAU’s Davie campus on Thursday night near 10 p.m.

The suspect is male and was last reported near the baseball fields, which belong to Broward College. The University Press called the police for more information, but was told they were not allowed to disclose more information.

Students received emergency texts, calls and emails from FAU warning them to “seek shelter in [a] secure location.” Police deemed campus all clear as of 11:18 p.m. Thursday night.

FAU’s emergency call stated that emergency personnel were “handling the situation.” It’s unclear at this time whether anybody has been injured.

This news comes the day that FAU’s annual crime statistics were released. There were no other weapon reports on the Davie campus in 2016, 2017 or 2018, according to the report known as the Clery Act report.

This is a developing story that will be updated once more information is released.
