He’s been working his way up the depth chart since joining the Owls in 2016.

FAU wide receiver Dante Cousart, a redshirt senior, was placed on scholarship Wednesday morning.

In a common Lane Kiffin antic, before telling Cousart he received the scholarship, he told Cousart that he wasn’t having an effective fall camp and walked away. Then he came back and proceeded to tell him the good news.

“Right away, I just got a big boost of energy,” Cousart told Jake Elman of the Palm Beach Post. “But I made sure to try to focus on practice still and get the work done and get the job done.”

The redshirt senior graduated from FAU last week with a business degree.

Last season, Cousart caught two passes for 11 yards and also did some punt returning duties during the middle of the season. However, he broke his leg last October when the Owls were facing Marshall.

Offensive linemen Nick Weber was placed on scholarship last Friday.

Cousart has definitely come a long way in his collegiate career. After playing at William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, he began his college play at Assumption College in Massachusetts before joining Florida Atlantic in 2016.
