Another walk-on wide receiver will transfer to FAU, this time it’s senior Chris Herring who originally went to the University of Alabama. Joining the Owls, Herring reunites with former offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide, Lane Kiffin.

Herring will be immediately eligible to play receiver for the Owls since he is a walk-on transfer, compared with Alabama where he never received the opportunity to record a catch.

“I have high school teammates that go there and they always talk really good about the school,” Herring told AL.com. “I know it’s a fun environment to be in and I knew I wanted to go back home, so those were really the main factors of it.”

The 6’4”, 178 pound receiver is now the second former Crimson Tide player to transfer to play for the Owls. The first being running back being BJ Emmons who signed with the Owls back in February of 2018.

The last receiver to transfer to FAU was Rahsaan Lewis, son of former linebacker Ray Lewis. Herring will join a wide receiver core that includes Willie Wright, Tavaris Harrison, Dante Cousart and the aforementioned Rahsaan Lewis.
