NFL Hall of Famer’s son to transfer from UCF to FAU

As FAU is starting to get commitments from the class of 2020, a notable transfer transpired Monday night as UCF sophomore wide receiver Rahsaan Lewis announced he is transferring to play for the Owls.
Lewis, the son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis, was a walk-on defensive back for UCF last year before changing his position to receiver in the spring. As a defensive back last year, he recorded four tackles in seven games with the Knights. However, he wants to pursue being on the offensive side of the ball at receiver.
“Change is a scary thing in life and you never know if it’s going to be better or worse but you got to trust in God which is exactly what I’m doing,” Lewis said in a statement on Twitter.

While Lewis plans to play slot receiver for the Owls, his only stats for the position came from UCF’s spring game where he had four receptions for 101 yards. As Lewis wants to play immediately, he’ll transfer as a walk-on since NCAA grants immediate eligibility in that regard.
Lewis is now one of four current FAU players whose fathers played in the pros. The others include Warren Sapp II, Terique Owens, son of hall of fame wideout Terrell Owens, and Frank Gore Jr.
Lewis will face his former team on Sept. 7 in Boca Raton.
