In the final game of the season for FAU, an 8-7 win over Middle Tennessee, the Owls (37-18, 22-8 C-USA) clinched both the No. 1 seed in the Conference USA tournament and the conference’s regular-season title.

Just like in Friday’s game, the Blue Raiders (18-37, 11-19 C-USA) got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in the first two innings. However, FAU was quiet until the bottom of the second inning, where they scored four to tie it. The rally was started by an RBI double by Francisco Urbaez. Urbaez would continue to have an impressive game at the plate, as he also homered to left field in the bottom of the fourth.

Jacob Josey got the start in the season finale against the Blue Raiders, though it’s probably one he would like to forget. He pitched two innings, letting go of four runs on 31 pitches. Reliever Nick Swan came into the game and held Middle Tennessee in check, striking out eight across five innings. Swan ended up collecting the win.

The Owls closer, Zach Schneider, came into the game and gave up two Blue Raider runs to cut FAU’s lead to one. He did take care of business eventually, collecting his 14th save of the season.

On May 22, in the first round of the Conference USA tournament, the Owls will take on the University of Texas at San Antonio in Biloxi, Mississippi. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
