Starting this fall, FAU will offer its students $5 off their Uber rides.

Student Government and Student Affairs spearheaded the program, which will kick off in August. Known as the “Uber Safe Ride Program,” the initiative lets students use the discount both on and off the Boca, Davie, and Jupiter campuses.

The two each allocated $20,000 for the initiative. Student body President Kyle MacDonald told the University Press that the money covers the cost of the discount.

“If the total amount of $40,000 wasn’t replenished by either party, then the program would end,” he said.

In an SG announcement video, MacDonald also said, “Students will get an email in August with instructions and discounts will automatically be applied.”
