Folk music could be heard last Thursday during Program Board’s monthly Live on the Patio series.

The Icarus Account, consisting of twin brothers Ty and Trey Turner, performed folk songs with a pop twist on the Burrow patio. About a dozen students attended the event, also hosted by Student Government’s Multicultural Programming.

Students fashioned dream catchers at tables set up on the patio while the brothers played their original music.

The two started singing in church and high school and have performed as a duo for the last 10 years. They both view success as “different for every person.”

“It is all about what your goal is and what you are trying to do,” Ty said.

“Success is achieving your goals. The biggest challenge we face is the traveling. The performing is the fun part,” Trey said.

Freshman communication major Laura Vargas Gallardo and freshman health science major Taylor Cannon agreed they enjoyed listening to music while crafting dreamcatchers.

“I would always see them on Pinterest and would want to try them. It is a nice way to distress,” Gallardo said.

Cannon added, “Creating a dreamcatcher was relaxing and inspiring.”

Out of all the songs the brothers performed, their original “Cherry Street” is one of their favorites. Singing famous covers of songs from Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Cars” to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” is also on their list of favorites.

As first time performers at FAU, their next stop will be in Alabama.
