FAU Athletic Director Pat Chun is set to be is set to be named to the same position at Washington State.

According to Brett McMurphy, Chun’s hire will be announced in a press conference Wednesday. He will take over in place of Bill Moos, who left Washington State back in October to take the athletic director position at Nebraska.

He was named FAU’s athletic director on July, 2 2012 after 15 years at his alma mater Ohio State in several positions.

Under Chun, FAU’s programs have “set records in academic achievement, revenue generation and community outreach,” according to his biography on the Athletics department webpage.

This includes a 3.0 grade point average in back-to-back years, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017, for the first time in the program’s history.

Chun, who is set to become the first Asian-American athletic director of a Power 5 school, is most known for his hiring of head football coach Lane Kiffin this past year. He also hired men’s basketball head coach Michael Curry and women’s basketball coach Jim Jabir during his tenure.

Kiffin’s team finished the year on a 10-game win streak and won more games this past season (11) than in the previous three combined (nine).

The school has not yet announced a replacement for Chun. The University Press reached out to athletics, but did not receive comment as of publication time.
