The annual OwlFest concert will be held this week as part of Homecoming week festivities.

Rapper T-Pain, pop group 3OH!3, and acoustic singer-songwriter Levi Stephens are set to take the stage Friday night.

“As we looked forward to Homecoming and connecting the New OWLeans theme, we wanted to highlight the tenth anniversary of Owl’s Football’s New Orleans Bowl Win with an OwlFest throwback lineup,” Assistant Director of Student Activities and Involvement Richard Mahler said via email.

Overall, the cost of the event totaled $110,000 including catering, parking, security, box office fees, and performer costs. T-Pain will receive $47,500, 3OH!3 will be paid $30,000, and Levi Stephens will be compensated $3,000, Mahler said.

This will be T-Pain’s second appearance at FAU since 2014 when he performed alongside Jay Sean as part of the former Homecoming concert, Owl Prowl.

When asked if this event will be different from past years, Mahler said, “Every year is different and exciting.”

But instead of the fest being held at the usual Student Union Outdoor Stage closest to Parking Garage I, OwlFest will take place in the Student Union auditorium.

The assistant director added that there will also be a social media live stream of the concert.

“Although T-Pain isn’t the most current artist, it’s cool that the school got him because he’s a good throwback artist,” freshman Alexa Day said.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are free for students with an OWL ID.
