UPDATE 5/19:

Bailey has transferred to the University of Miami, according to a tweet from Brandon Clay of PeachStateBasketball.com.

Shaneese Bailey is preparing to transfer from Florida Atlantic after this semester, according to a tweet she sent out on April 27. Posting a screenshot of a previous post on her Instagram page, she announced her transfer while thanking those involved with the program.

“Thank you to everyone that has helped and supported me along the way,” she said. “I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.”

Bailey did not give a reason for her transfer in the post, and her loss will definitely be felt by the team next season.

She led all Owl players in scoring last season at 16.5 points per game in 29 contests. She also led the team with 34 steals. At the end of the season, she was voted first-team All-Conference USA.

Bailey will have to sit out a year because of the NCAA’s transfer rules, but will have two years of eligibility left after that period.

Bailey is not the only loss from last year’s team, as sophomore guard Lauren Williams is also transferring away next season. Next year’s squad will return much of its young core, while both Ali Gorell and Morgan Robinson will be heading into their final seasons as Owls.
