After an NFL draft where the lowest selected player in school history was taken, more Owls football players are finding their way on to rosters in the post-draft rush for players.

Wide receiver and kick returner Lucky Whitehead was one of the first to be signed, tweeting he was going to play with the Dallas Cowboys a few hours after the last round had ended.

Whitehead led all receivers in yards, receptions and touchdowns last season. He also impressed scouts with his speed – running an unofficial 4.41 in the 40 yard dash at FAU’s Pro Day on April 2. He has been clocked as low as 4.35, so watch out for him to fight for a spot.

Defensive back Damian Parms and linebacker Andrae Kirk became the 29th and 30th players to sign a professional contract during draft weekend, with Kirk inking a deal with the Arizona Cardinals and Parms joining the Atlanta Falcons.

Kirk led the team with 103 total tackles and two interceptions last season, earning first team-all Conference USA and FAU team MVP. Parms was second on the team with 84 total tackles and one forced fumble.

Other Owls agreed to camp invitations, including tight end Alex Deleon (Kansas City Chiefs), defensive back Christian Milstead (Green Bay Packers) and offensive lineman Braden Lyons (Miami Dolphins). These deals are non-guaranteed, so all three would have to earn a contract in their respective camps.

FAU now has 10 former players currently signed to NFL deals, with the potential for up to three more players to find rosters by the end of the summer. If players are not cut from teams, this could wind up being the most players the Owls have had in the NFL at one time.
