Argentina national soccer team to play Colombia, Haiti at FAU Stadium

With the start of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro approaching on Aug. 5, the national soccer teams of Argentina, Colombia and Haiti will make the trip to Boca Raton to play a pair of friendly matches before they leave for Brazil.

Atletico Mineiro and Independiente Santa Fe take wins in Florida Cup doubleheader

Sunday saw the first-ever professional soccer games in FAU Stadium's history when the Florida Cup brought a doubleheader featuring international professional teams. The preseason tournament, now in its second year, is nearly over. Atletico Mineiro is currently in first place after winning its game today and is now set up to win the cup for the first time in club history. Here’s what you need to know from the day’s two tournament games:

FAU Stadium to host Florida Cup tournament doubleheader

For the first time in its history, the Florida Atlantic football stadium will host a doubleheader leg of the 2016 Florida Cup on Sunday, Jan. 17. Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians of Brazil will serve as the first match of the doubleheader, while Colombia’s Independiente Santa Fe and North American Soccer League (NASL) side Fort Lauderdale Strikers will meet in the second game. “We definitely like the location,” operations manager Gustavo Poliak said of the choice of venue. “The stadium is beautiful, we are right next to the beach and we are working to make a mutual relationship with the university for the future.”
