Total Wine in Boca is holding a fundraiser for FAU student Frantzdy Cherisma, who was badly burned in a car accident on May 17.
On that night Cherisma left his evening class on the Boca campus and headed home on northbound I-95. His car broke down on the highway, and while he was pulled over another car rear-ended him. His vehicle then burst into flames, and the 26-year-old was burned on more than 50 percent of his body.
He was taken to Delray Medical Center and later transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was listed in critical condition.
The store will have eight stations set up with beer and wine sampling, with the chance to collect coupons or win prizes.
The cost of the benefit is $25 per person, with all the money going to help Cherisma through the rehabilitation process. Total Wine will also match all the money raised.
