Nanci Alexander is not only the owner of Sublime Restaurant, but also the founder of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF). With that in common, the restaurant donates 100 percent of its profits to the organization.
The restaurant just happens to be 100 percent vegan. You would never even know that the menu, with mac and cheese, sushi and a “steak” burger, is fully vegan. Long-time bartender Erin Brooks noted that most of the customers, a roughly 80 percent, are meat eaters.
“They just want to try something different,” she states.
For a first-timer’s meal at Sublime, she recommends the Sublime Picatta. The garden cutlets with asparagus and potatoes is a very popular dish. At $19.00, it may be steep for your everyday college student, but well worth it if you want to treat yourself to something new.
When the guests want to try new food, they usually like to try new drinks, including six unique bottled beers, organic vodka and organic tequila. If you don’t find something you like, they do have the standard liquor bar.
The Pomegranate Wheat beer is “a great summer day beer” as described by Brooks. It tends to be the favorite for those trying a new beer. In her opinion, the most unique beer to try is the Peg Leg Imperial Stout from Baltimore. This beer has a heavy chocolate aftertaste and tends to only be appreciated by frequent beer drinkers.
Vegan food, organic alcohol drinks and a good cause are good reasons to try out Sublime Restaurant.

Pizza Fusion
Where “green” food is good for you

Earth-friendly, environmentally-safe, green and organic are words that describe Deerfield Beach’s Pizza Fusion. It is a small pizza business that has made an effort to better the earth by cooking with all organic products on counter tops made from recycled products.
Pizza Fusion’s menu offers fresh, organic ingredients and even gluten-free options. The signature pizzas include classic cheese, very vegan and Philly cheese steak pizza. Don’t forget about the homemade cookies and brownies for dessert.
The cars they use to deliver their goods are hybrids. They will even deliver a bottle or two of their unique beer selection (with proof of ID, of course), like Butte Creek Brewing’s Organic Porter and local micro-brew Holy Mackerel’s Mack in Black. Their most popular drink is Boylan’s Root Beer, a sugarcane-sweetened soda that is served in an old fashioned tall glass bottle.
After the meal is done, they suggest you recycle your bottles and boxes to keep the environment happy.
