A Sense of Tradition

One of the top priorities for FAU is to create a sense of tradition for students and alumni. Administrators hope the 2010 opening of Innovation Village – which will include a football stadium, student residence halls, retail stores and other services – will help develop that sense of tradition.

New housing at Innovation Village is anticipated to double the number of students living on the Boca campus, with the addition of at least 1,500 new beds for students. These apartment-style residence halls will each have four individual bedrooms, a common area and a fully equipped kitchen.

Another component of Innovation Village will be 60,000 square feet of retail space. Services offered will include dining, clothing, laundry and other on-campus amenities.

The football stadium, which will be the centerpiece of Innovation Village, will cost $62 million to construct. The plans include 30,000 seats, 20 luxury boxes, 1,000 club seats, 1,000 premium seats and a press box.

FAU hopes Innovation Village will help transform the campus into a more traditional university, improving student life and creating memorable experiences for FAU students.
