The first time I stepped on campus as a freshman (exactly one year ago), I felt butterflies in my stomach – not because of excitement, but because of the anxiety parking caused me.
When I finally managed to get out of the car after circling the garages for 45 minutes – carrying all of my books and a beat up campus map that I had gotten a few weeks earlier – I looked more like a tourist than a student; I was just missing the camera and sunscreen-covered nose.
I didn’t know where the best places to hang out around campus were. I had no idea of where to get my teeth checked after realizing that the pain in my mouth was not the growth of my wisdom teeth anymore. And I had no clue whether the $550 I had spent on my books (6) was too much, or just the standard rate.
But a school year’s worth of experiences has taught me more than any FAU pamphlet could have, and now I’m passing all the knowledge on to you.
From how to lead a double life after choosing two majors (15), where to park (14) and exactly what there is to do around campus, we’re giving you the lowdown on everything they didn’t tell you in orientation.
These following pages are your FAU cheat sheet and the only guide on campus that will tell you where the best places to drink are (8).
