Compared to previous episodes, the latest instalment of “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” is pretty tame – the contestants didn’t have to dress like babies, become the claw in a giant toy-grabbing vending machine, or ride a tricycle on a treadmill. Instead, they just have to hang from ropes and have their team mates throw balls at them in a game called Sticky Sticky Bang Bang.
But of course, there’s more to it than just that.
In this episode, the contestants are divided into two teams: the Green Monkeys and the Yellow “Peng-ins” – which is apparently Japanese for penguin. For this game, the opposing team has strings that can pull the hanging contestant from side to side, making it difficult to hit that person with the flying balls. The team with the most balls stuck to the swinging teammate won the game.
And as always, one team does really, really poorly – which wouldn’t be so bad except it’s the same team each week. By now, it’s pretty obvious that the Green Monkeys don’t know how to survive a Japanese game show.
Next week, there’s a game called Clothes On, Clothes Off! – and yes, the exclamation point is part of the name. There’s no telling what exactly is going to happen in that game, but chances are it’ll be amusing.
