The last episode of “Hopkins” started by pronouncing a gun shot victim dead in the O.R. This episode started out with an operation on a woman who had an ingrown toe nail – complicated stuff.
The opening scene may have been a little lighter, but the show gets into its usual swing of making viewers cry when they film a 2-year-old child going into cardiac arrest because of an enlarged heart.
The first few episodes of “Hopkins” were nail biting because viewers really didn’t know what was going to happen to the patients, since the show obviously has no issues with capturing a few of them dying. But now, the show is down to a simple formula.
If they don’t show the patients face – there’s a good chance they die. If they give the viewers tons of inspirational background on the person – there’s a good chance they live.
But the show does have a lighter side. In this episode, one of the doctors becomes the object of ridicule because he’s a jazz dancer on the side. The staff also hassles him because his mother keeps calling when he’s in the operating room – see, doctors are like college students.
