With a slogan like “It’s not TV. It’s birth control,” the NBC show “The Baby Borrowers” doesn’t skimp on the drama we’ve come to know and love from them. The series follows around five teenage couples as they are lent children for three days at a time.
Basically, the show is televised karma for the bratty teens on the show.
This week, the couples receive preteens, along with their pets. Couple Kelly and Austin get three uncontrollable boys who turn the backyard into a mud pit, while couple Alicea and Cory get two girls who won’t stop hitting each other.
Worse yet, the temporary parents of the slap-happy sisters have to host a sleepover – for the entire neighborhood. At least none of the children peed on the couch, like what happened in the previous episode.
The best part of the show is that the real parents get to monitor the couples and tell them just how much they suck as pretend parents. It’s like having in-laws, except that these people actually know what they’re talking about.
Next week, the couples get teenagers of their own. Based on the previews, it looks like the neighborhood will be covered in toilet paper.
“The Baby Borrowers” airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC. Previous episodes are available online at www.nbc.com
