This is the year of the superheroes – movies like Hancock, Iron Man, and Hellboy II managed to impress audiences across the nation, but no other movie made a bigger and better impression than The Dark Knight.
In this action thriller, we welcome the return of Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) as the Batman who battles the Joker’s (Heath Ledger) crazy antics with the mob in the fictional city of Gotham.
In this sequel to Batman Begins, Batman is conflicted with being the city’s hero, and contemplating to have a real life and settle with Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal). Dawes is a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne and one of the few people who know his true identity as Batman.
But as things get more complicated with the destruction and chaos that The Joker has caused in the city, Batman has never able to kill the Joker, which only makes afternoon killing sprees more fun for The Joker.
The acting of Christian Bale and Heath Ledger is superb as they take on the roles of Batman and the Joker – this movie is not only incredibly outstanding and this year’s Blockbuster, but also one that in my opinion is worthy of an Oscar.
