Grab some popcorn and your Manolos, because the girls of “Sex and the City” are back. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) are picking up where the fabulous foursome left off. The movie is based on the popular HBO series and book written by Candace Bushnell. If you were a fan of the show, you will not be disappointed.
The movie, written by Michael Patrick King, kicks off by briefly recapping to set up where the characters left off, Carrie narrating as she always did on the show. Each character has her own set of problems, (except Charlotte, of course, who’s living the perfect Manhattan lifestyle) and gets through them with the help of good friends and stiff drinks. SATC is also jam-packed with enough designer fashions, drama and laughs to please long-time devotees to the HBO hit.
Although Jennifer Hudson’s (Dreamgirls) performance as Carrie’s assistant was nothing to write home about, the main characters delivered a realistic performance with a compelling storyline and a fairytale ending. Think Cinderella in a Manhattan apartment.
Sex and the City is playing at Muvico Palace 20 (3200 Airport Road, Boca Raton). Call (561) 395-9009 for show times.
