The Sons of York could be referred to as the Hardy Boys of the music world, but you needn’t worry about murder mysteries here.
After publishing their first EP, Chicks, Dudes, Bad Attitudes, the Sons of York have gained popularity by writing music that’s not only new and innovative, but also hails back to a better time when rock ‘n’ roll was just about the music.
Jake and Luke Kennerd and Erik Strom all hail from the home of moose and maple syrup, Winnipeg, Canada. Jake and Luke grew up on classic rock, according to their profile on CDbaby.com. Drawing influences from The Strokes, The Vines and The Hives, they flourished in Winnipeg’s music scene.
“Chicks, Dudes, Bad Attitudes” is filled with seven tracks that make you just want to get up, jump around, shake your hips and have fun. The music clocks at just over 27 minutes – not a hell of a lot, but certainly worth a listen or four.
With their Streets of Fire-style and youthful energy, the Sons of York is certainly a band you’ll have to keep your ear out for in the future.
